Venice Apartments

There are a couple of restaurants nearby, one downstairs and another directly across from the location. You can hear noise from them, but they close around 10 pm and open again around 8 am. The room was clean and had its own bathroom. The air conditioning worked well, though it needs cleaning because the air smelled strange. The location is very close to Pl. Roma, which is handy if you have an early flight.

This is one of the cheapest hotels in Venice, and for an inexpensive city stay I thought it was really okay, so I’m giving it 5/5. The standard may not be very high, but the room was clean and the air conditioning worked properly. There was enough toilet paper and shower gel, two hair dryers, and a couple of towels. It’s fairly near the bus station, which is convenient if you have an early flight and don’t want to rush.

We stayed in the "red room," which had an extra room with a single bed and was spacious enough. The place doesn’t seem to have been renovated recently, but it was very clean. It’s centrally located, yet the room faced a courtyard and stayed quiet, with really pleasant afternoon light. There was no reception, and messages often went unanswered. We couldn’t get help with things like finding an iron or leaving our luggage after check-in while we were still in town.

We picked this for one night before an early flight, mainly because we wanted an affordable place on the island. The location was great for walking around, though hauling bags over all the bridges was a bit of a workout. Our room was on the third floor, and the top two flights were especially steep and tall. The double bed was two singles pushed together, but that worked fine for us. Check-in was self-service and the email instructions were clear. Just know there’s nowhere to leave luggage before afternoon check-in, so you’ll need to pay for storage nearby. The room was livable, but the air-conditioning was weak and inconsistent in the late June heat. It blows from above a table, away from where people actually spend time, and the room was only comfortable for a few minutes here and there. I asked about it and got a reply, though the explanation was that guests may have set it higher than allowed and that the system is poorly placed. The little fridge barely got cold, either. The shower doors don’t close all the way, so water gets onto the bathroom floor and makes it slippery. Our bathroom door also had a big dent when we arrived, so I sent a photo straight away to show it was already damaged. The entrance is beside a restaurant, and we often had to walk through smoke to get into the building. It even drifted into the lower level. Would I come back? Maybe, because the price was helpful. I did feel a little stuck with problems that couldn’t be changed, though. Other places at this price might have their own quirks, so perhaps it’s a matter of choosing the ones you know. Glad we tried it, but I’m still not sure.
