Venice Luxury Palace 7 by Wonderful Italy

I don’t recommend staying here for business or a conference. There’s no way to get in touch with the property, and they don’t answer the phone. They also take a tourist tax even when you aren’t a tourist and have an exemption, and don’t send an invoice or any other proof of payment. Terrible.

The rooms are roomy, the place is really clean, and everyone was friendly. My locker was small but fit my valuables; my own lock didn’t fit, but they lent me one for free. There’s a kitchen, and you’re close to lots of things. The only issue was the water, which wasn’t hot. That was okay in the middle of a hot day, but not at night or in the morning. Still pretty happy with my stay.

The worst part was finding bedbug bites all over both arms after lying on the living room sofa bed. For a place calling itself a luxury palace, that was disgusting. We also returned to find someone had been in our bedroom while we were out. A repairman had come without warning two days after we first called about a disturbing kitchen noise. The bathroom sink leaked and left the floor wet, the heaters didn’t work, and the unit smelled old and didn’t seem properly cleaned. Check-in was at a separate location, as their website says, but that reception was difficult to find. I expected much better accommodation and staff, and the stay just kept getting worse. 😡😡😡

I started noticing lots of little red bites on my arms and legs after we checked out, and I don’t see how so many mosquitoes or other bugs could have bitten me without me noticing. It made me think there might have been bed bugs or something similar. On our last day, I also saw an employee change the sheets but put the same comforter back on, which grossed me out. People use those too, and they should be changed along with the sheets. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel. There are cleaner, more professional options on the island. At first it seemed good enough for a last-minute booking when other places in Venice were full. It was a little dingy but seemed clean, with a kitchen and four-bed dorms. We were greeted nicely and shown beds with large lockers, though one locker had clearly been broken into and didn’t seem secure. The entrance was hard to spot off a small alley. They also hadn’t told me they only took cash, which was frustrating as a foreign traveler with limited cash. We accepted it as a place to sleep and got on with our trip, until those problems on the last day.
