Fattoria Lischeto

After visiting Volterra, we came here on a ship excursion and had an afternoon supper I’ll always remember. We tried six kinds of sheep’s milk cheese, followed by “a little” pasta with Sangeovesi. The flavors were incredibly delicious, and the setting was rustic.

The food here was delicious, and we’d warmly recommend it to fellow foodies. The organic homemade pecorino, hams, salami, wine, and olive oil were absolutely divine, with authentic Tuscan cooking touched by inspiration from Sardinia. It’s a beautiful farm with stunning views of the rolling Tuscan hills, very close to the ancient town of Volterra. The road there is VERY bumpy and could definitely be improved. Even so, we loved this agriturismo and look forward to returning.

There were thousands of flies everywhere, landing on us all the time, and wasps at the swimming pool. We got bitten a few times. Our room was supposed to have air conditioning but didn’t, so the very dark rooms were extremely hot. The metal beds in our second room were horrible. WiFi didn’t work, and internet was the reason we chose the place, so we didn’t get what we paid for. Breakfast was very poor and exactly the same every day for four days. The bread was old, and the tomatoes were poor quality.

A beautiful place to visit for a gourmet tour, and you can rent rooms if you want to stay. Everything is grown in their garden and is very organic. The wine and cheese are excellent.
