LTU Garden

I’d never have expected to find such delicious schnitzel in Jamaica, but the restaurant had it, along with menu items it’s kept since the previous owner. The bar and restaurant across the street from the hotel were incredible. We had a wonderful dinner date, and the views from the cliffs nearby put Rick’s Cafe to shame. The prices, food, service, and ambiance were all better in our experience. This place should be on any list of recommended places to eat and sleep in Negril. Luka, the owner, was incredibly nice and stayed at the gate to let us in even though we arrived late. I travel a lot, and this was the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in a beach town. My girlfriend and I had the complete opposite experience from the very negative recent review, so don’t take those negative reviews as the whole story. This place suited us far better than Sandals would have.

We booked four nights, extended our stay, then came back again near the end of the holiday. The rooms in the tropical garden were lovely, very clean, and had super comfortable beds. I really liked the quieter West End side of Negril, where it’s easy to walk around and find public transport. The owners and staff were so helpful and made us feel at home. The restaurant opposite has delicious food and a breathtaking view of the ocean and cliffs. I’m picky about hotel cleanliness, and I’d absolutely recommend this place.

The only real plus was being close to Rick’s Cafe and Negril town. The rest was a letdown. The room felt outdated, the bedding smelled old and unwashed, and water often stopped during a bath or wouldn’t run at all. The pool wasn’t cleaned often, and the whole property felt depressing and run down. The website photos don’t show what the rooms and property look like now. Maybe they were taken when the place first opened. I also suspect some of the positive reviews are fake or doctored.

You get a lot for the price here. We’ve stayed more than six times and return every year. The rooms are large and comfortable, with a refrigerator, and the pool is great. The garden is kept perfectly, and the owners and staff are the best. One of Negril’s best-kept secrets.
