Five stars in every category! The staff were great and Hebolace was really clean and quiet. There's breakfast and a bar. Though tucked away from the main road, you can reach everything with a short drive. A very stylish place for couples.

We felt at home thanks to the clean, well stocked rooms, and the beds were heavenly after a long flight. The hotel stayed calm and relaxing, with genuinely kind and helpful staff. It was a fantastic stay and I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Beppu. Thanks so much for a great time.
Another great place for a night. The rooms are big and comfortable. It's kind of a no-frills spot, and there's even a bar in the lobby.
The receptionist was the best part. They were friendly and keen to point us toward good local places to eat, which made exploring more fun. The hotel is pretty basic, with fewer amenities than you'd expect from a comfortable stay. There's no lift, so anyone above the first floor has to carry their own bags upstairs, which can be a pain with heavy luggage. The room itself was spacious, but the light mattress slid around and wasn't very comfortable. It had a large tub, though there were no bath salts or robe, which felt like a missed chance to make it more relaxing. Breakfast came as a cold sandwich delivered to the room the night before. Convenient, but not exciting. It's functional if you just need somewhere to sleep. For a more comfortable or convenient stay, I'd look elsewhere.
I booked through Agoda because there was a deal, but I wasn't especially impressed. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards, and the bedding, which felt almost like a futon, was fine. I liked having separate toilet and bathing rooms, a nice traditional Japanese touch. Still, the room had no bath salts or robes, which surprised me since the hotel seems to expect guests to visit local hot springs. Soundproofing is minimal, and we could easily hear the neighbors through the night. We were on the first floor, fortunately, but there didn't seem to be an elevator for carrying luggage upstairs. Service had good and weak points. Staff recommended hot springs to visit and delivered packaged sandwiches for breakfast. The missing amenities were an area to improve.
