The location is convenient for FujiQ highland park and trips around the Mount Fuji area, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. But the lighting made it extremely hard to sleep. The capsule number lights in the hall shine into the pods even with the blinds down, and the hallway stays as bright as day all night. They should dim it after 8PM. The supplied earplugs are cheap and don’t block the noise. Many guests were loud and inconsiderate, including young tourists, so bring your own noise-cancelling plugs, such as Honeywells, and a sleep mask. The number lights are so bright that you may be tempted to press the power button in nearby cabins to turn them off, but that switches on a second light inside those cabins, so you’d need to close their blinds too. My pictures were taken near midnight and show how bright it gets. It’s a shame because I enjoyed everything else about the hotel, but the lighting seriously affected my sleep.
The capsules were quite large, everything was very clean, and the staff were friendly. My main complaint is that the hotel closes off the bathrooms, including all the toilets, from 10 AM to 3 PM for cleaning. There are even signs asking guests to leave. Cleaning itself is good, but I pay for a hotel to use its facilities, and this felt like poor service and hospitality. There were also few amenities in the common room: one microwave and one sink, chopsticks but no other cutlery, no coffee machine, no charging points, and no windows. Other capsule hotels seem to address these problems, so next time I’d look for a different one.
For the price, this is a really solid stay. The pods have more room than I expected, and the facilities are excellent. Showers, laundry, and a lounge where you can sit and eat are all provided.
The bed was comfortable, and the toilets and showers were nice. The AC runs through the night, so the rooms don’t get cold. It’s a fun experience and cheap accommodation, but I was glad I only stayed one night. If you’re unlucky, someone may be snoring right next to you. The air was very dry, and I woke up several times to drink water, which was unpleasant. Leaving bags in lockers and walking back and forth if you forget something is manageable, just try not to forget anything 🤣. That’s my opinion, but for me this is really only good for one night.
This is my first negative accommodation review in Japan or anywhere in the world since Google started in 1998. My elderly mother, who was traveling alone with me, and I arrived very late after a long journey, exhausted and unable to sleep because of the stress the staff caused us. The check-in experience with Masayuki Amano (Amano Masayuki) was shockingly disrespectful. He was rude and unhelpful, and didn’t show us where the women’s bedroom on the ground floor was. The door had no Japanese or English sign saying it was the women’s bedroom. It only mentioned laundry and another room, and nothing clearly marked it as the room assigned to us. We were confused and tired, and I struggled to carry all our luggage in the wrong direction. He laughed at us, mocked us in English, said, “Haha, are you okay with the check-in process?” and walked away. We felt humiliated and completely let down. We came to Japan believing in its hospitality and kindness, and this experience hurt us deeply. It damaged the hotel’s reputation and the warm image of Japan that many visitors cherish. No guest, especially an older mother traveling with her child, should be treated this way.
