The Grand Residence Hotel Tenjin

We had a great stay in room 306. It was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities we needed. Since it’s a self check-in and check-out hotel/apartment, make sure to read the owner’s instructions carefully. The nearest bus station is a few minutes’ walk away, which was the only downside.

The room was so dirty and smelled bad that I checked out as soon as I saw it. There were stains on the walls and sink, and I didn’t feel safe even touching the sink. The fridge had food stains and leftovers from the previous guest. Disgusting. I paid $66 after a discount from $97, and now I understand why. I wouldn’t recommend this place even for one cheap night. Spend another $50 if you can for a better hotel. Getting into the building was a problem too. The entrance needed a passcode, but even with printed instructions on the wall, I couldn’t get the door to work. I waited about 10 minutes at the reception desk and called out for staff, but nobody was there. Other tourists were also struggling with the code, trying it about 10 times without success.

We loved the apartment and would choose it again when we visit Fukuoka. There’s no receptionist in the lobby, and it isn’t really a hotel, but if you have a problem, email them and they reply within five minutes. There was plenty of space for our family of two adults and one child. It came with a washing machine and one sachet of detergent, a small bathtub and shower, kitchen, refrigerator, AC, extra bed cover, and pillows. It’s near FamilyMart, Lawson, and 7eleven, and the famous Hakata ramen is just 10 minutes away.

The place has a kitchen, hot tub, and washing machine, so you can stay as if you live in the area. Check-in is automated, with no long wait like at a traditional hotel. There’s parking available, and I recommend renting a car. When I asked customer support about car rental, they arranged it promptly. I’d stay here again and recommend it to business travelers, tourists, and families.
