Pension Young House

The room was basic but comfortable, with a TV, couch, and small table. We didn’t use the TV, but it was handy to have for downtime. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and even let us use the shower before leaving. Just keep in mind that showers are available only from 3 pm to 11 pm. There’s no breakfast, though plenty of places nearby serve food. Pension Young House Hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the Kitanomine gondola and bus stops, and it was clean during our stay. The shared bathrooms and toilets were adequately maintained. Towels and a hairdryer weren’t provided, and the coin-operated laundry took a significant number of 100 yen coins for drying. It’s a practical, affordable place to stay in Furano if you’re happy with basic amenities. Bring plenty of 100 yen coins for laundry and remember the limited shower hours.

The conditions here aren’t something to expect too much from, but the owner was very polite. After checkout, he stored our luggage for free, which helped us a lot. Moving everything to a coin locker at the ski resort would have been difficult.

For about 3500 yen/pax/night, this deserves 5 stars. It’s a no-frills place, so you don’t get hotel services and amenities. The boss seems to run everything and will help if you need something, like a hair dryer or fresh sheets. Everything was clean and worked. My partner thought the male toilets smelled a little, while the female toilets and baths were clean. It’s right beside the kitanomine gondola and there’s a dry place to store gear. The building has some history, so sound insulation isn’t great. We could hear kitchen noise and people talking in the hallways.

The owner is a nice guy! Some of the other reviews may have misunderstood him. He let me check in early without any hassle and sent me straight up without asking for my name, passport, or paperwork. That was fantastic. For what you pay, it’s a comfortable, cozy place, with rooms that are actually quite big, bigger than a hotel room. Obviously it isn’t a five-star hotel, but I’d stay again :)
