Breakfast was a real treat after a wonderfully quiet night. There was loads of beautifully prepared food, and the staff brought it to our room and explained each dish. The whole place felt calming from the moment we reached reception. Just what we needed after a hectic week of traveling around. Our private onsen was secluded and peaceful, and the water was hot enough to melt away the tension.

After a hectic day doing the Hakone loop, we were so glad to have somewhere comfortable to rest. As first-time visitors to Japan, we hadn’t expected the loop to take so long or be so tiring. The room was cozy, dinner was delicious, and the open-air onsen felt dreamy and romantic. We even caught a view of Fuji-san in the morning 🏔 and left feeling refreshed. We were running late, but the staff went out of their way to help us. In the morning they also called a cab so we wouldn’t miss our train. We’re really grateful for their warmth, patience, and understanding, and hope we can stay longer next time.

Gurum-san looked after us so warmly, and everyone on staff was incredibly kind. The food was delicious too. We had an amazing stay at Hananoyado Fukuya, thank you so much. We can’t wait to come back.

Gurum gave us five-star service, and the kaiseki meals at dinner and breakfast were amazing. Every room has a private onsen, and there’s also a larger one for hotel guests that becomes private while someone is using it. The traditional rooms have tatami and beds set on the floor, which was difficult for us with bad backs. The hotel is only half a block from the main road and lake, but it sits on a steep slope. We weren’t driving, so getting there was difficult, though they do offer a shuttle. The hotel advertises Mount Fuji views, but the vegetation meant we couldn’t see it. It’s expensive, but worth it, and I’d highly recommend it.

We got into the private bath five times during our one-night stay. It was that relaxing. The breakfast was well worth the price too, especially the table-side experience. After a hectic week in Tokyo, my partner and I stopped here for a night, and it became the highlight of our trip. The location is great, just a short walk from the sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi. When we couldn’t find a taxi and were short on time for our noon train, the staff kindly called a driver and helped with our bags. Amazing people.
