Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko

We spent two nights here. The host was exceptionally friendly and shared useful ideas for things to do. If you’re lucky, rooms A or B may have a view of Mount Fuji. It’s easy to reach by public bus, and the clean surroundings made for a pleasant stay. We liked having the choice of Japanese or Western rooms, and staying in the Japanese-style room was a distinctive experience. Breakfast was basic but satisfying, just egg and toast. The location wasn’t ideal for dinner, since most nearby restaurants were closed in the evenings. The accommodation can provide hotpot dinner for 5000 yen for two people. Bathroom facilities felt outdated and lacked modern amenities. The price seemed high for such simple accommodation, though Hakone’s desirable location may account for that. Check-in only started at 3:00 PM, so we had to wait, even though the rooms seemed ready, especially with checkout as early as 10:00 AM.

The owner knows the area so well and gave us great advice for planning our day. Don’t skip the evening meals here, you’d really miss out. I had a fantastic stay and would love to come back.

It’s a small, quiet home that was just right for a relaxing stop in Hakone. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the restrooms were nice too. Our host greeted us when we arrived and got us settled, then shared lots of knowledge about the town, things to do, trains, buses, and Japan in general. He made us breakfast in the morning and had us laughing. After such a nice night, I’m sad we never even caught his name. If you read this, thanks for the stay!
