We first found this place as a restaurant, and the hosts were lovely and helpful. The menu is reasonably priced, with delicious food: the pork rib was thick, tender, and juicy; the beef bowl was beautifully cooked and presented; the beef udon was full of flavor; the butter chicken was very tasty; and the oden had plenty of variety and tasted just right. Outside, a takeaway truck serves curry and beer by an open fire. The guys in the truck are lovely too, and everyone gets a marshmallow for making a s'more and a sparkler after dinner. A lovely way to finish the day.

It's a large traditional house with plenty of character, and the owners are kind and friendly. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. Even with lots of guests staying at once, the place is clean. It's almost beside Goryu ski, less than a 10-minute walk, and very convenient for the price.

The owners were such kind, accommodating hosts. This was one of the loveliest places I've stayed in Japan, and I highly recommend it.
