Resort Inn White Silver

Jen was so helpful to us girls 🩷. The beds were super comfy, and most places were about a 10 minute walk away. Such a great location.

The two women on staff were friendly and helpful, but the owner's rude, aggressive manner made the stay uncomfortable. As a woman travelling alone, I expected basic hospitality and didn't feel I got it. Getting around was also a hassle: there are no pavements, so you're walking along snow-covered roads, and the guest van runs only at limited times for arrivals and departures at the nearby train and bus stations. Everywhere else means walking. If you want to eat out, the popular noodle house nearby is almost impossible to book. The guesthouse itself is fine, but the owner's behaviour and the transport difficulties make it hard to recommend.

We arrived in peak season with our infant and were told White Silver Lodge didn't accept children under six, even though our child was included in our Agoda reservation and the property appears on several booking sites. There was nowhere else available, and we weren't offered a way to cancel without losing the full fee. Agoda eventually cancelled and refunded us because we couldn't check in with our child, but the property still charged a late checkout fee equal to three quarters of the booking cost. They later said a cot could have been provided if we'd asked, despite their under-six rule. We didn't need one, since our child sleeps in our bed. They also mentioned a waiting list and suggested they could have resold the room, perhaps at a higher rate, while refusing a penalty-free cancellation. This left us scrambling and ruined our family holiday. Luckily, family nearby gave us somewhere to stay. The lodge took no responsibility and seemed to put profit ahead of customer service. We know businesses need to make money, but this wasn't our fault. I wouldn't choose this place with children or if you expect basic flexibility or accountability.

Greg and his team were wonderful during our five nights at White Silver. They helped us figure out the slopes and where to catch the free shuttle buses, which stop just outside the property, and answered all our questions. After we lost a pair of snow gloves, twice, they even lent us some. I'd happily recommend White Silver.
