The Phat House - Hostel

The team at The Phat House made my whole trip, and I can’t wait to come back. I was nervous about my first solo trip, but they were already being helpful before I even reached Hakuba. Once they picked me up and checked me in, I felt comfortable and welcome. They ran multiple daily transfers to and from the resorts, always with a smile and stoke for everyone riding. The dorm and rooms were exceptional and clean, and the facilities were great. There’s a fun bar with games and people hanging out, but the building layout and the respect shown by staff and guests meant you could still have a peaceful stay if you weren’t there to party. I’ve never experienced that level of warmth and hospitality before. Thank you!!! Can not wait to come back 🤙🏻

The Phat house & Phat Packers made our trip, even though we only got two good powder days in what they said was the worst season they’d seen in years. Everyone else staying there was friendly and fun too, and we made some great friends. The house is beautiful and well located, and the staff were Ahhhhhmazing, so friendly and attentive. They shuttle guests to and from resorts, shops, bars, and restaurants. If you feel like staying in, there’s a great bar serving DELICIOUS food. The cook is a genius and a super amazing person. We were so happy with our stay. The environment, staff, and house were all 10/10. We’ll always return!

We had a great time here, and my inexperienced-in-snow self is grateful! On the first day, staff picked us up at the train station, helped us get our snowboard rental gear, and took us to the hostel. Each morning we used the free shuttle to the ski fields, then got picked up in the afternoon. Dinner at the hostel was superb, especially the rice bowl, and having drinks in the hot tub after a long day boarding was a highlight. The staff were accommodating and friendly, always ready with advice or recommendations, and would even drop you off for a night on the town. The food and vibes were excellent. Thanks for having us, guys. May your winters be powdery and your hot water always working!

My sister and I had the absolute BEST time at the Phat House. The staff do so much for you, and the facilities are fantastic. It’s definitely good value. There are games, drinks, and great company every night, plus plenty of ski shots. We’ll definitely be back!
