The hot spring water felt gentle and left my skin smooth, though it ran pretty hot, lol. Food was good, and the people were really friendly and kind. At dinner there was an all-you-can-drink selection with sake, beer, soju, and soft drinks. You have to try Nodoguro fish, a famous fish in Ishikawa preference. It’s like cod, only smaller, tastier, and juicy. Kanagawa city was about a 40-minute drive away. On the way, you can see the Japan sea and stop at Nagisa driveway, where you can drive on the beach in any car.

We’ve been here with the family many times, and coming back to Yuka after several years brought back memories. This time we had a detached cottage-style room with an open-air bath. Inside, it was spacious, new, and very clean. The bath kept warm with hot spring water running into it all the time. I was excited to find a ReFa hair dryer and shower, and the free cider and rusks were delicious too. I love Hamanasu Onsen’s distinctive smell. I’d read mixed things about the food, but we enjoyed everything, there was plenty of it, and we made use of the complimentary alcohol as well. When you want a little extra, you can prepare your own Nodoguro Dashi Chazuke (rice with blackthroat seaperch). Everyone on staff made us feel welcome. I’d love to come back now and then as a treat.
