Com Inn Hiroshima

You get a small, standard room with the basics, and the price seems fair for that. It’s fairly basic accommodation, not especially central, and there’s no staff around. We got a passcode by email for the building and room, then just an email telling us to check out, so the whole stay felt quite impersonal.

The reception staff were very kind and helpful. If you know a little Japanese, they’ll be impressed! The room was small, as I expected, but clean and comfortable, with adjustable air conditioning. There were plenty of electrical outlets, and the bathroom had free shampoo and body wash. I only stayed one night, though I could picture staying longer to explore Hiroshima and Miyajima. There’s no elevator, so getting luggage to an upper floor could be a hassle. I’d definitely stay here again.

There weren’t curtains, so anyone who needs a dark room to sleep is out of luck. It’s also a fair way from most tourist spots, and may not be a good fit if you don’t know how things work in Japan. For the price, I expected more. You can sleep here, but that’s about it. The room was dirty, the shower smelled bad, the closet was falling apart, and the fridge was so noisy we had to unplug it to get some sleep.

The bathroom was very clean and had the basics, though it felt a little cramped for me at 1.8m tall. Heating and cooling were available, and there was Wi-Fi and a microwave for store-bought food. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Yokohama station, with stairway access only. The staff were friendly and could communicate well enough in English. I’d come back.
