Guest House Pongyi

Pongyi felt more like staying with friends than in a guesthouse. Nina and the other travelers made the shared time feel warm and easy, and Nina’s explanations, recommendations, and little thoughtful touches made our time in Kanazawa special. She welcomed us so kindly when we arrived and told us about the history of the place, which really does feel full of soul and stories. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and in a very good location. Thanks again, Nina, for being so generous and hospitable. We’ll treasure the memory 💛

The shared spaces made it easy to meet other international travelers and swap stories. Nina, the manager, was so friendly from check-in and helped everyone feel at ease, with plenty of useful local tips too. It’s just a 5-10 minute walk from Kanazawa station, and the whole place had such a welcoming feel that it felt more like a home than a regular stay. This small guesthouse was the highlight of my trip. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, social base in a great location for exploring Kanazawa.

Even during my two-night stay, the friendly staff helped bring guests together, so I got to talk with people from all over the world. The public area was spacious and clean. The guest house is a renovated old store, and you can still get a traditional Japanese house feel inside. A nice home-like option in Kanazawa.

The location made it easy to get to public transport, good restaurants, and the main sights. Inside, the rooms and bathrooms were spotless, and the beds had privacy curtains and their own outlets. Nina was so kind and welcoming that I felt at home right away. She also knows a lot about Japanese culture and local life, so our conversations were always interesting. In the evenings she puts on activities for guests, including an origami lesson one night that was such a sweet memory. Best hostel I’ve stayed at. I’d come back in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone after a warm, social stay in Kanazawa 💛
