Even though it’s on a main road, the rooms were surprisingly quiet. We had the breakfast package: two pastries with a different selection each day, yogurt, two pieces of fruit, coffee, and a bottle of water. The location is handy for a traditional stay in a quiet area with plenty to do nearby. Nishi Chaya Tea district is right there, with restaurants, cafes, and a small Ninja Weapons museum that’s worth a look. Kutani Kosen Kiln is also close, and I recommend taking a pottery class there. Cross the bridge north and it’s a short walk to more restaurants and shops.

The place itself was really worth it, and we had a great time there with friends. It’s a nice blend of traditional and modern, and there’s a bus stop right beside it that takes you to the town centre. It’s quite a walk if you decide not to take the bus. Check-in was a bit complicated. There was no staff there when we arrived, and we had to check in by video on a screen with someone who didn’t speak English very well. We managed in the end. I’d recommend it for groups looking for somewhere to stay.

The shower was superb, and the room opened onto a lovely garden through a shoji. Our room fit five people and had a heat pump, with lots of little touches that made the place feel special. The facilities are modern, and check-in was excellent. It’s a short walk to Nishi Chaya district. Cross the bridge to reach Katamachi, with plenty of restaurants and shopping malls. The price was unbeatable compared with what we paid in Tokyo.

It had a bit of a youth hostel feel, which wasn’t quite what the two of us oldies expected. Still, the place was spotless and the beds were comfortable. The only people we saw were the cleaners. When we needed help, including with forwarding our luggage and calling a taxi, it was all handled by email.

The rooms were incredible and the host was really sweet. Breakfast had a huge selection, and you can choose the time freely. Everything turned out better than expected. The shower even had a filter, and using the washer and dryer was free.
