Super Hotel Kokuraeki Minamiguchi

A good budget choice for this location, with clean accommodations that felt in line with the price. Staff were helpful, and there was an open bar at check-in.

The breakfast was okay, with a good range of Japanese dishes and a few pastries. This is a standard business hotel in a convenient spot, about a 10-minute walk from Kokura Station. Rooms are small but not tiny. The ofuro is very small too, with room for only three people.

Breakfast was free, with an oriental-style spread including sticky rice, scrambled eggs, fish, and ham. I found the bed comfortable when staying with my wife, and it was a proper double, not narrow. The room was in very good condition. At check-in, you can choose a pillow type, and the pillow cover was washed. The bathroom is small but has everything needed for a shower, with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in bulk dispensers. It’s about a seven-minute walk from Kokura Station. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a cost-effective hotel in Kokura for a night or two.

Check-in was easy, and there’s a laundry room on the first floor. The hotel is close to Kokura Station, a strip mall, and restaurants. But the room was really cramped for two, with a small bathroom and a view of the parking lot. The bed had barely any cushion and wasn’t comfortable. There was no pillow in the room, so you have to pick one up near check-in.
