After more than 800 hotel stays over five years, this was the worst. There’s no air conditioning, so you can’t sleep here in summer. At a quarter of the price, it might be reasonable. Otherwise, it’s a nightmare.

The location made it easy to get around Kushiro. Izumiya, the famous restaurant, is only about five minutes away, and Fisherman's warf moo and Numaishibashi are nearby too. The staff were friendly and got us checked in quickly, and our room was very clean and well looked after. We’d stay at Hotel Axia again when we come back to Kushiro :)

There was no Wi-Fi in our room, and the room itself was tiny, the smallest I've seen in Japan. Three suitcases wouldn't fit. The listing said there'd be a fridge, but there wasn't one. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

The Wi-Fi was weak in some rooms. Otherwise, it was a decent, affordable place in a central spot, with nice staff and a breakfast that was better than I expected.

A simple but generous breakfast and convenient parking nearby for ¥500 a day made for a perfect stay.
