Guesthouse Chayama

Chayama house felt like a little gift box, with lovely details everywhere, from the mattress wrappers to the bell over the sink. The beautiful teapot and tea cups won me over, but there was so much more for my family. As a mother of three, I’m picky about finding somewhere cozy that feels like home, and the atmosphere in the house and neighborhood made this a magical place. The futons upstairs were nice to sleep on, and we could all relax. Our kids played at a nearby park while my husband made a lovely dinner for friends, something he often does, even though we’d only just arrived that day. I rode a bike to Kamogawa like I used to, and felt young again. We could feel Kyoto in the rain, the neighbors’ laundry, and the smell of fried meet from a nearby restaurant. Those things are hard to describe, and we’re grateful for the experience. Charming.

A convenience store is just a one minute walk away, and the station is only two minutes on foot, yet the neighborhood is quiet. The beautiful Japanese-style house was clean and comfortable, and we had a very relaxing stay. From Demachiyanagi, it was easy to reach Shimogamo Shrine, a beautiful world heritage site, and Sanjo and Gion-shijo, with all their shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. It was a convenient, comfortable base and helped us make the most of Kyoto. Thank you :)

We found the guesthouse very well equipped with all the essentials and conveniently located. It was a perfect place to stay with family for a holiday in Kyoto, and I’d absolutely recommend it!
