The Willows restaurant serves excellent meals, and the rooms are lovely, with great water views. The onsen is nice, too. James and his wife were wonderful hosts who set a very high bar for hospitality and are committed to making your stay the best experience. Best place to stay in Matsue.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially James. We loved our stay in a large, clean, comfortable room with a private bath overlooking the lake. The view was stunning. What a gem of a ryokan!! Highly recommended.

The room was fresh and clean, with a perfect view and plenty of space, including a separate area 😍. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, and we had an amazing stay!

The hosts were amazing, and I can’t say enough good things about them. The meals were delicious and used locally sourced ingredients. The rooms were comfortable and beautiful, with views over the river and lake. It’s a great ryokan and onsen, and the hosts spoke English, which was helpful for this American traveller.
