Dogo-no-Oyado Iwasaki

The owner was so friendly and sweet, and even let us leave our luggage before check-in. It’s great value for the location: Dogo Park and a Fuji Kogo supermarket are a minute away, and the Dogo Onsen area is about a five-minute walk. The futons were soft, with a little desk and space to store our bags. They provide yukatas for visiting the nearby onsens in Dogo, and on certain days there’s free bread from the bakery next door. A very comfortable ryokan-style stay, definitely recommend!

It felt old and unclean, especially the bed sheets. Inside, it looked like a hospital.

We came as a group of 13 and stayed one night. The manager was incredibly kind and helpful, even looking after things we’d forgotten, which was more than we expected. The rooms were a great find for the price, and the location works really well for Dogo onsen. We’ll definitely return!

The staff in the lobby were very helpful, and the place was clean. I was a bit surprised to see a Westerner speaking fluent Japanese, haha. There’s a Family Mart about a three-minute walk away, and Dogo Onsen Station is under ten minutes away. From Dogo Koen Station, it took me less than ten minutes even while dragging my suitcase. The building feels more like a rental than a hotel. The sliding door has no lock, so you open and close it with a key. There’s a gap underneath, and outside sounds carry in, especially chairs being dragged. In the room with two single beds, there was barely enough room between them to open and sort a 24-inch suitcase. There’s an induction stove and kettle, so you can make cup ramen. The bathroom was very large and well maintained.
