The snowy lake and trees made for such a peaceful setting, even with all the fun of tubing down the slopes. We had a great time on the toboggan run, especially as a group, with lots of laughing and excitement. It was a lovely mix of outdoor adventure and nature. The restaurant had plenty of choices and everything we tried was delicious. The building is nicely designed to fit its surroundings. There’s ample parking and a bus stop close by, so getting there is easy. Staff were polite and happy to help with our questions. Reoma deserves a special mention: he was so welcoming, and our fun chat with him, along with the stories and positive energy he shared, really added to the day. He’s smart and warm, and a great asset to Nagano Forest Village. We had a fantastic winter day trip for snow play. We’ll definitely come back, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Nagano in winter.
A fairly new glamping resort with washrooms, a restaurant, and a gift shop. It’s by a small lake where you can rent paddle boats, and there’s a zip line for kids. The area is close to izuna ski hill.
A really nice spot for camping with family. You can choose a bungalow or the free site, which costs 300 yen per person. There’s an extra charge to put up a tent, but parking is free. Walk further up and you’ll find a huge outdoor playground, with a zipline going across the lake. It’s not far from central Nagano City, which makes things convenient. There’s a little market selling locally grown vegetables and local craft beer, plus a restaurant and bar that are open only until a certain time. The toilets are super clean, and there’s an oven for making pizza too.
Be careful, there’s no shower, and we were disappointed to find that out. The location is nice and it’s quite clean, but in high season the restaurant prices are pretty expensive. There’s nowhere to hang out nonstop, either. The kitchen is only a pizza oven, with nothing else like a kettle or microwave. Maybe it works well for families with little kids, but that’s about it. The tomatoes from Marke were delicious, though. :)
Love this place for the river view. When it rains, the weather turns cold and mist starts to roll in during the morning, even in summer. In 2020, it cost 3000yen per tent if you brought your own. For an extra price they can provide a tent, cover, chairs, charcoal, and more. There’s no electricity, but the water is free and the toilets are clean. They also have jungle cabins and adventure activities for an additional fee. It’s kid-friendly, and foreigners are welcome.
