The location works well for sightseeing in Nagasaki, and breakfast was great. The listed price is cheap, but the owner has a lot of strange fee rules, and it seems easy to break one and end up paying more. There’s a late check-in fee after 5pm. We were also charged an extra 10.000 Yen after one of us made a phone call outside the hostel at night. On the surveillance camera, for some reason someone checked, it looked like she had taken a photo of the hostel, which is against the rules. The owner even contacted our university to complain about our “misbehavior.” I’d never go back.

Hostel Nedoko was a perfect base for a couple of days exploring the city, close to Peace Park and well placed for sightseeing. There’s a delicious Ramen Jiro place just down the street. The rooms are extremely clean and cosy, and everything is homemade and very cute, even the funny signs explaining the house rules. They’re basically common sense reminders to be considerate of other guests. The owner is so kind and offered me several tasty treats. As a solo traveler, I had a great time chatting with the owner and even singing karaoke. 100% recommend.

The room was a bit small, but that helped me break the ice with another guest more quickly. I loved the hospitality. The owner knows almost everything happening in Nagasaki, so you can ask her anything about the city. You can also talk openly with her about anything, including confessions or complaints, and she’ll respond accordingly. Just be ready to read the house rules so everyone can have a pleasant stay. Cheers.

Sara, the owner, had a real feel for hospitality. When we arrived, there was a tray of tea and cake waiting, and she always had the right advice to make our demanding tourist days easier. The hostel was full of charm and very comfortable, especially the beds nedoko. It’s also very well located for visiting Nagasaki.

Sara, the owner, is very helpful, and the hostel is clean and small enough that you get to know your roommates more easily than in a big place. The tram stop is a three-minute walk away. There are a lot of rules, among the strictest I’ve seen at a hostel or guesthouse. You can’t keep luggage in your room, and after checkout they’ll store it only until 3pm for a few hundred ¥. It’s tiny, with no place to hang out and no kitchen, and food options nearby are limited. The value for money is so-so.
