Hotel Nagasaki

We brought a group of students here for their graduation trip. The rooms had been renovated and offered a wonderful view, while the rest of the hotel felt old and full of character. The rooms themselves were very nice.

The panoramic bath was clean and hardly busy during my stay, though it’s on the small side. I think parking usually costs extra, but that fee was waived for me. My room was a bit dated but clean, with a fantastic view, and the price I booked at felt fair. Getting up there was the main drawback. I drove, and the narrow road has sharp turns with local drivers flying past. I can recommend the place, but I wouldn’t pay a premium for it.

There isn’t much around the hotel, so expect to head back into town by bus or taxi for most things. A bus circles past the hotel and makes getting down to the station easy; a taxi from Nagasaki station costs about $11. The advertised ten-minute walk from the station goes up a mountain, so I wouldn’t recommend walking it. The rooms are nice traditional Japanese rooms with futons and private bathrooms. Staff speak little English, but for the price it’s pretty good.

Recently renovated, this hotel offers a room, breakfast, onsen and view that are all surprisingly good for the price. There’s no extra parking fee. I’d especially recommend it if you have a rental car.
