Adan Hotel

There’s no front desk, and you collect your key using a code sent in your email confirmation. The building is only three or four levels, but it has no lift. The location is very convenient, with a convenience store right next door and plenty of restaurants a short walk away.

The walls were so thin I could hear people in the next room, guests coming and going, and noise from the bars outside. Loud, drunk guests woke me twice when they got back around 3 a.m. Then at 9 a.m. there was drilling upstairs. There should be a notice if repair work is going to happen. Getting into the room felt strange too. I had to call a number to check in, then got a code for the mailbox holding my key. The shared areas looked badly worn, and there’s no elevator, just uneven stairs. My room was bare: no cups, only a toothbrush without toothpaste, plus shampoo and body wash. It felt cold and bleak, and it was very dirty. Dust covered the surfaces, including the TV, shelf, lamp above the bed, and probably the air conditioner. There were unexplained stains on the walls, and what looked like mould or mould marks behind the TV. I had a double room with its own bathroom, but the bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable, smaller than ones I’ve had in other budget hotels. A frosted glass panel beside the door let the hallway light spill in at night, and made me uneasy because someone might peek in. The door itself also seemed easy to kick in. This place needs a major overhaul. It feels so unsafe that someone could be attacked, fall, hurt themselves, or get sick here.

The rooms are okay, though there’s no elevator in the building.

Good.
