We didn't stay at the hotel, just came to see the summer illumination. The show and attractions have really declined compared with previous years, and it didn't seem properly maintained. I hope they improve it, since the illumination isn't worth the 1,000 yen entrance fee as it is. On the plus side, there's a playground near the parking area and plenty of parking spaces.

The rooms were spacious by Japanese hotel standards, and the food was excellent with great service. We enjoyed the resort and especially the illumination show. Most of the staff were helpful, but the front desk felt completely out of step with them and needs serious training. Calling to make a reservation meant waiting a very long time for someone to answer. On arrival, lots of employees were busy at the front but weren't paying much attention to people needing information or checking in. When check-in time came, one woman at the computer told us to wait for someone else to come help. I've travelled around Japan since 2009 and never had trouble checking in at a front desk. If that's normal for APA, the front desk staff could use some serious customer service training in the restaurants.

The rooms and restaurant have lovely views of the local mountains. It's a nice hotel right on the golf course, with plenty to keep a family occupied: putter golf, disc golf, a play area, cycle rentals, and golf carts you can rent to drive around the grounds.

The staff were outstanding, and the rooms were comfortable, all with a lovely view of Mt. Myoko. The dinner and breakfast buffets were also special, with a great range of healthy food.

The outdoor public bath was so relaxing, with a great mountain view. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the service was great. Amazing hotel.
