Hostel Chill Out Namba

The owner and staff create a really nice atmosphere that suits the name ChillOut Hostel. It’s clean, reasonably priced, and supplies all the utilities. The location worked perfectly for me, about a five-minute walk to Namba. The mattresses were more comfortable than those at the other hostels I saw in Japan. One of the best places I’ve stayed in this country, and I’d come back if I’m in Osaka again.

The dorm room was pretty ordinary, but it was clean and clearly looked after. I especially appreciated how friendly and helpful the staff were. The common room’s design stood out to me too, and the owner, Nori, seemed really proud of it.

We had to find somewhere at very short notice after an accident at our previous place. I was there with my husband and two kids, and Nori was so friendly and accommodating, trying to help however he could and being lovely with the children. This was my first hostel, and I was glad to find such a clean place, with a big private room that fit all four of us. The bathroom was spotless, and the common room had lots of games and sofas for relaxing. The location was convenient too, within walking distance of Dotonbori, OCAT, JR Namba and the other Namba stations. I’d stay again when I’m back in Osaka and recommend it to family and friends looking for affordable, friendly and safe accommodation.

The facilities are fairly well equipped, and it’s a decent affordable option if you want to try staying in a hostel. Getting luggage up to our third-floor room was tiring because there’s no lift and you have to use the stairs. Dotonbori’s popular areas are about a 15-minute walk away. OCAT is closer, around 10 minutes on foot, which is handy if you’re going to the airport at the end of your stay.
