Osaka guest house sakura – Hostel

The owner has a little kitchen/restaurant, and when I checked in tired she made me a very nice, simple homemade curry for about 10 dollars. It was comforting, even if it wasn't fancy. I had a perfectly nice four-night stay. The hotel is very small, and clean enough in my view. The top floor isn't really divided into rooms, just one big room with around eight beds separated by drywall and curtains. It's one of the more affordable places in the area, so I think a three-star rating is a bit low.

I stayed for 12 nights and found the place quite clean. Staff changed the bedding as soon as guests checked out, and cleaned the room, bathrooms, and shower rooms daily. Everything seemed well maintained, so I felt comfortable using the facilities. I saw no b*db*gs or other pests, and the free WiFi worked great. The food at the first-floor restaurant, run by the same owners, was delicious and cheap. I miss it now. The owner was very kind and even gave me food for free, and her son speaks great English, so communication was easy. The location in downtown umeda is great, a short walk from convenience stores, grocery stores, bars, restaurants, and shops. My main complaint is the thin mattress, which could be uncomfortable, especially for anyone with joint or back pain. There are also several stairs to climb for the third or fourth floor, which can be inconvenient if you have chronic pain. The 16-bed female dorm felt a bit cramped too.

The food was so nice and tasty, and I really recommend trying it. The owner served us kindly, like family, and we talked with her for a long time. If you want to try Myanmar food and culture, you can come here. It's a hidden gem. 🤭🌸🌷

Everything was quite nice, and the owners were genuinely friendly, helpful people. I spotted no scamming or bed bugs, and the Wi-Fi worked well. I was comfortable in the mixed dorm. Going up and down stairs regularly can be an issue since some rooms are on the 3F and 4F, but it was fine for me. Dear owner, if you're reading this, please keep my transparent umbrella with pixel pokemons if you can. I'll be back in Osaka in a few months. 😭
