Jozankei View Hotel

The gift shop in the lobby was huge, with lots to browse, including Hokkaido-area goods and drinks. It's the best hotel and cruise gift shop I've seen. There was also a decent arcade with prize games and crane machines. Most games cost 100 yen, some 200 yen, and crane plays were 100 yen. I enjoyed playing there, and it was much better than the expensive arcades on cruise ships. There seemed to be family-friendly water activities in the basement, though I only walked through briefly and can't judge them. The room in the New Annex building was clean, bright, and had enough outlets, with no odd smell. Staff made the bedding while I was at dinner. The lobby smelled nice and felt welcoming. Check-in was efficient despite the guest information form, and the staff were polite and spoke English. The onsen was a moderate size, with comfortably warm water and plenty of hair and skin products. I didn't like the odd schedule for switching the rooftop open-air bath. Food was the resort's weakest point. The restaurant was spacious with a nice atmosphere, but the buffet favored quantity over quality, and most dishes were average. The fresh cherry tomatoes and soft-boiled eggs were my favorites. Some staff walked past my finished plates without clearing them, while others were more energetic and tidied up after guests. The stay felt like being on a cruise, but better. Facilities: A+. Lobby and check-in: A. Room: A. Onsen: A. Restaurant and food: B-.

A huge traditional-style hotel with spacious rooms, and staff put out the futons. The spa had plenty of pool options, with separate men’s and women’s areas where bathing is nude. Some rooms have fantastic views.

I stayed solo from November 13-14, 2025. The onsen options were a real plus, with indoor, outdoor, and rooftop baths as well as wood and cold steam rooms. Breakfast was decent, and the free shuttle to Sapporo Station was useful. It’s probably the cheapest full-service hotel in Jozankei, so the value is solid. The dated rooms need attention, with old upholstery, manual locks, and an outdated TV. The beds were uncomfortable, and dinner buffet was disappointing. When tour groups from Korea and China arrived, the hotel got loud and crowded, especially at dinner and check-in. I'd rate it a solid 3.5. Good value for Jozankei, though there are likely better options.

There's a lot on offer here, including an onsen, game room, water park, and souvenir shop. The room was fine, though it looked a bit old. Dinner is served buffet-style in a large dining room, which gets very crowded around peak mealtimes.
