HOTEL LiVEMAX SENDAI KOKUBUNCHO

In August 2025, the location felt like it was among adult entertainment venues, with young women dressed in schoolgirl outfits standing outside. The staff didn’t speak English and didn’t use a translator to help communicate. They didn’t look at me when I came or went, and couldn’t give me directions or a map. The restaurant shown on the website and at the hotel was permanently closed. In the room, the hot water maker had a six-inch cord that wouldn’t reach an outlet. There was a mug, but no tea or coffee packet. The room always felt muggy, even though it had a humidifier with no water in it. I turned the fan up high to try to dry the room out. Housekeeping threw away the brush head from my electric toothbrush, which had been sitting in a container right beside the toothbrush. First I was told it would be replaced, then the housekeeper searched the bed for it, then I was told there was no proof it had been there. Finally, they showed me a page from a multi-page document saying the hotel wasn’t responsible for damaged or missing items. There wasn’t even a drawer in the room where I could try to hide my things.

The room is small, but the beds are comfortable and the bathtub is deep. It’s a reasonably priced place with thoughtful extras. There’s a water dispenser, laundry and spots to sit and work downstairs. The staff are friendly, and the location is great: right by 7-Eleven and across the road from Donke superstore.

We booked a double room for two and were glad to find two full-size beds instead of twin-size ones. The room also had a mini fridge, plenty of outlets and a bathroom larger than what we’d found in most business hotels. Having two key cards was handy for coming and going separately. The hotel is close to Sendai’s nightlife area, but it wasn’t loud or seedy. Being near downtown made it easy to get almost everywhere. At the affordable rate, I was very happy with the stay and would consider coming back if the price works out.

I had a non-refundable booking through Booking.com and needed to cancel, but the hotel kindly let me cancel for free without any hassle. I’d consider staying here on another trip to Sendai.
