Compared with the pricier Japanese-style inns nearby, this western-style place is reasonably priced. The rooms feel roomy because they don't have private bathrooms. Toilets are shared on each floor, while the showers and small onsen are downstairs on the first floor. The onsen only fits about six people, but it does the job. There's also a bar, a tatami room, and a library for relaxing.

The best perk is the spa on the first floor, open from 7:00-22:30, and there's free parking on site. The hotel has a hostel-like feel, with self-service check-in and checkout and lounge areas on the first and second floors. Rooms are modern and come with slippers, towels, a toothbrush, bowls, cups, a TV, and a fridge, but no bathroom or shower. Each floor has a shared men's and women's washroom and toilets at the end of the hall. You can bring your own food and drinks, and there's a microwave plus hot water and ice dispensers. The second floor has coin laundry available 24 hours a day, a traditional Japanese tatami room, and a library Mac computer that's first come, first served. The free Wi-Fi was hard to connect to. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you, KYOU!

Before COVID 19, we could have the lounge to ourselves, and only a few people would gather there for drinks. It looks colorful and inviting, with mountain bikes and sofas, but when I saw it there were no people. Maybe the lounge is still closed. I thought a shared spot was meant for people to talk and meet. Hopefully people will slow down and chat with strangers more. Life's more interesting that way.

For the price, this is an easy choice if you're touring by car. The rooms are spacious, bright, and clean, and the surrounding area is beautiful, with an onsen town not far off. There's a pleasant lounge, where you can get a breakfast for 600yen that's worth the money. The inn is contemporary and well run, with an automated check-in and checkout system. You'll really need a car to reach it.

The employees were kind and down to earth. Akui onsen is just five minutes away, beside a lawson, and it's a 20minute drive into the city. Very nice place.
