Minshuku Koshiyama

The staff were the best part of our stay. They were warm and accommodating, and made us feel welcome even though the place was otherwise empty. We also enjoyed dinner, especially the beef curry, though the restaurant's opening hours were limited. Our room was spacious, but its bright white overhead light made it hard to relax, and there were no smaller lamps. The price also felt high for a room with shared toilets and a small bathroom with a shower but no bath. I understand Shirakawa-Go is a popular sight in a small town, where accommodation costs more, but it still didn't feel like good value. The location is convenient, about 10 minutes from the bus station and sights. We stayed in a private room, while using the shared facilities. The stay itself was a bit of a letdown, though that's not Koshiyama's fault. There was very little to do or see in Shirakawa-Go after 16:00, and the cost was higher than spending another night in Kanazawa with a return bus.
