Business Hotel Masutachi

Really helpful, friendly staff, and the place has a great Showa era feel. For the price, it was awesome.

The vintage feel gives this hotel a lot of character. It was clean and comfortable, too. Such a lovely, cool place, I’d definitely recommend it!

It's a 30-minute walk from Shizuoka station, but the price is great. The rooms were clean, the facilities and amenities were top notch, and the staff were super friendly.

There wasn't anyone at reception when we arrived, though someone happened to be there at that moment. Check-in is done on a self-service panel, and you can't store luggage. The hotel is a little way from the centre, but still walkable. There's a library, but unfortunately no books in English. The kids enjoyed the table tennis, and there are useful extras on other floors, like small packs of razors, shaving cream, or suncream, plus a microwave. Shared toilets on each floor were super clean. On the second floor, the shared bathrooms are separated for men and women. Clean bath mats are stacked there to use after a shower, with a basket for used ones, and shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are provided. Our family room worked well, with two beds in a separate room and an open doorway between the spaces. The mattresses were medium firm, but we didn't like the pillows because they were too hard. The walls are thin, so you could easily hear other guests talking if there were more people around. We were the only guests during our stay. The hotel has been renovated and is now called the New Mustache. The sauna and bath are gone, along with the retro and vintage items shown in older photos. Still, it has authentic vintage pieces rather than retro ones, and the place feels like a once-classy, top-notch hotel. Stylish, with a classy historical atmosphere. We absolutely loved it and were pleasantly surprised. We recommend staying here.
