Shingo was a great host, and the check-in process was easy. We went to the lounge first, then checked in at the house. Iori Takayama is a well-preserved 100-year-old Machiya, with a traditional Japanese feel alongside some modern touches that made our stay comfortable. It’s also well located for visiting downtown Takayama.

Our family of five had plenty of space in the beautiful, comfortable house. It was well equipped and in a great location, and the service was helpful and accommodating from start to finish. We absolutely loved staying at Iori Takayama. It’s been our favorite hotel so far on this Japan trip, and I’d highly recommend it.

The service was impeccable, and we had plenty of complimentary snacks and drinks. There weren’t many kitchen amenities, though. The hot tub and bathroom were great, and the rooms were large and beautiful. The stairs were quite steep. It was a great traditional stay right in the old town, near restaurants and the morning market.

The house is beautifully designed inside and sits in a stunning spot that’s also convenient for exploring the city. From check-in to the end, staying at IORI Shiroayama was a pleasure. The welcome and service at check-in were especially impressive. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The service was top notch and very responsive, and they provided rides to and from the station along with a fridge stocked with beverages and other things. This 100-year-old house has detailed traditional decorations alongside modern amenities. The bedrooms are upstairs, with comfortable beds, and there’s AC and fast wifi. Just be aware there’s only one shower, toilet, and sink in the house.
