Yuyado Osanpo-Biyori

The food and hot springs were both great, and the strawberry dessert was especially good. There are stairs leading up to the guest rooms, which could be difficult for an elderly dog.

It’s a little out of the way, but a lovely place to stay with your dog. You can have Hida beef, and the desserts are tasty. I haven’t heard of anyone spotting a bear there, but they lent me a bear bell to take along on our walk.

I called to check whether children were allowed because a relative’s child was on summer vacation and we wanted to stay together. The hotel initially said it would be possible at the adult rate, which we accepted. But once I said the child was eight, they said no. She’s a third-grade girl who doesn’t run around anymore, and they hung up before we could even hear why. We’d already booked, but canceled. I’m glad we didn’t stay somewhere run by such unscrupulous people. Dog lovers with kids, you can’t stay here!

The baths were so relaxing, and the open-air one was amazing. We also loved the food, especially the pizza, and enjoyed some wine. My husband and I stayed several nights with our toy poodle, Aqua, and had a fantastic trip. The husband and wife were kind and lovely, and clearly comfortable around dogs. They gently held our puppy. Our room was clean and comfortable. My husband tried the 2160-meter ropeway right away, while our puppy got to go on lots of walks and we explored the hotel grounds. We definitely want to come back!
