For our final night in Japan, we wanted somewhere peaceful and traditional before flying from Narita Airport. Staying with Mieko was exactly right, and we loved it. She was so considerate with us traveling alongside a baby, even picking us up at the bus station and taking us back when we left. She also dressed our daughter in a lovely kimono, which made for a really special memory. We’d wholeheartedly recommend a stay here.

Even after my flight delay brought me in late, the owners were awake and happy to get me checked in. They showed me around the ryokan and explained where things were, and said I could ask for anything I needed. After we chatted about why I was visiting, the female owner invited me along and drove me to the temples nearby. A really good ryokan, and one I’d recommend.

We picked this for our last night because it’s close to the airport. The hosts were so kind and welcoming, treating us like family and going out of their way to help travelers. They don’t speak English, though lol.

Mieko san was such a welcoming host at Masugata-ya Ryokan. She tells you about the area, and if you’re lucky, you might get to try some local food. The rooms are cozy and have a TV, AC, and futons that weren’t too hard for a gaijin. It felt like the traditional Japanese Ryokan experience I was hoping for.
