For our first trip to Japan, Amanek Hotel in Shinjuku worked out decently, though there were trade-offs. We were travelling with a baby and came back early each evening, so the red light district location wasn’t a major issue for us. Still, the area could feel sleazy, especially at night, and it’s worth knowing where the hotel is. It’s close to the station and well connected. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything. The hotel is clean, modern and looks good. The rooms are very small, which is common in Japan, but three single beds and three suitcases left us with very little room to move around comfortably. Housekeeping comes every other day, though you can ask for fresh towels daily. We didn’t think breakfast was worth it. With so many convenience stores and places to eat nearby, we’d skip it and find something local. We wouldn’t rush back, but it served its purpose on our first visit. A reasonable choice if cleanliness, helpful staff and a central spot matter to you, as long as you keep the room size and surrounding area in mind.
I’m super fussy about where I stay, and this hotel really hit the mark for cleanliness, especially for the price and location. If you’re a member and book online, I think breakfast is included, and it was good. Drinking coupons definitely come with it. I’m a huge fan of this brand. The beds are a little hard, but so are my pockets 🤣🤣 I’d recommend it with a smile ❤️🙂
The location is perfect for Shinjuku, and Shinjuku station isn’t that far away. The rooms were great, apart from the lighting in the amazing bathroom. It wasn’t very good for shaving or doing makeup. Otherwise, everything was very good and the staff were friendly. Definitely worth staying if you want to experience Shinjuku over 24 hours.
The room was small, which is no surprise in Japan, and the bed was comfortable. I also appreciated that the hotel is on a quieter side of Shinjuku. My two star rating is almost entirely because of the young male staff member at the front desk around 1:30pm. Customer service was basically nonexistent. He made it seem like helping guests was a personal hassle and he’d rather be anywhere else. A smile, some basic engagement or even minimal effort would have made a real difference. I hope management addresses this with proper retraining, because the service was well below expectations.
We stayed in room 1302 on the 13th floor for 7D6N. The only issue was noise after midnight if we opened the windows for some cool air. Since Shinjuku is an adult nightlife area, it may not suit families with children. Other than that, everything was good. The place was nice and clean, and the staff were very friendly, always greeting us with a smile.
