Century Southern Tower Hotel

We stayed here at both ends of our recent trip to Japan, with nearly two weeks elsewhere between visits to Tokyo. The staff were very helpful and the service was great. They let us leave our luggage there for free while we traveled outside Tokyo, so we could downsize what we carried. The location is hard to beat. It's a short five-minute walk from Shinjuku Staton, which was especially handy for taking the Narita Express to and from the airport. The hotel is close to the station but away from the hustle and bustle, and an elevated terrace connects it without having to go down to street level. It took us a while to figure out the route the first time, though, since Google Maps wasn't very intuitive. Yoyogi Station is also a short walk away. We walked from the hotel to Meiji Jingu, Shinjuku Goen, Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya. The rooms start on the 21/F, so you can pretty much count on a good city view. We stayed on the 25/F and 28/F and had great views of Shinjuku. The room was roomy compared with the ones we stayed in in Kyoto and Osaka. My husband also thought the Toto washlets were the best of all our stays in Japan on this trip.

Super convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the major stations. The room was cozy and clean, with a comfortable bed and a nice city view. The air conditioning took a while to get going, but it ran quietly and worked well in June. The 7-11 downstairs closes at 11 PM, so late at night you'll need to walk to the nearby Family Mart.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and reasonably well maintained, and the location made a convenient base for exploring Tokyo. But service and management were well below what I expected. Breakfast was the biggest problem. The queues were consistently long, with waits of 30-60 minutes on some days, especially the day we arrived. That made it hard to manage our schedule. Guests should have been told ahead of time how long the wait might be so they could plan their day. The poor communication and crowd management affected the stay. The rooms and location are good, but service efficiency and communication need to improve.

We booked a triple room for a couple of nights before our cruise, and the central location was a great base for exploring Tokyo. It's right by Shinjuku station for public transport, and within walking distance of Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It was my first visit to Tokyo, and I was really impressed. The rooms start on the 22nd floor, so the skyline view is amazing. Definitely recommend!
