The gym needs a rethink. Strength training seems to be split by gender, but the facilities aren’t comparable. The women’s area is an enclosed space with basic dumbbells in a plastic box and a mat, while the only machine is an outdated one in a corner of the shared cardio area. I only saw women using it, so I wondered whether better strength equipment might be somewhere else, perhaps in the men’s area. Whatever the intention, the setup feels unbalanced and poorly planned. It limits access to proper strength training and leaves guests competing for one piece of equipment. The rooms, though, were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which matters a lot to me. The sushi restaurant was excellent, with a highly skilled chef and standout food, but the menu was quite limited and could use more variety. Front desk service varied. Some staff were helpful, while others seemed indifferent and unwelcoming. Even a simple request to replace a misplaced lounge card was handled without much courtesy or warmth. The hotel does well with its rooms and dining, but the service consistency and gym facilities need attention.

The breakfast buffet had a huge range of Japanese, European, and Indian food. At the entrance, there were ancient-looking artifacts dated as far back as 3000BC. I wondered what they were doing in a hotel, and figured they might be replicas. The hotel sits beside a lovely Japanese garden, away from the city bustle, and all the facilities were remarkable. The free shuttle to Meguro Station was especially useful. It runs every 15 minutes and always seemed full.

The room looked out onto a carpark 😁. The bathroom was very good, with temperature and timing you could set automatically, and breakfast buffet was very good too. Just be prepared to climb stairs at the subway stations. You can book a paid airport shuttle through the concierge.

My room access card stopped working once, and the lounge access failed twice. Also, I borrowed a weighing scale in the evening, then got a call at 7.30am the next morning while I was still asleep, nagging me to return it. I’d had a late night and needed the rest, so the call disrupted both my sleep and the rest of my day. They could’ve been more considerate. It’s incredible that the hotel only has 1 scale.
