Super Hotel Tokyo Shiba

They charge for luggage storage and for using an umbrella. That seems to be their business model, I guess, but I won’t be staying here again.

The room is small, so opening a big suitcase could be tricky, but the staff were all nice and made us feel welcome. It’s about a ten-minute walk from the JR station, in what feels like a business district. Breakfast is free, with fresh bread and as much Japanese-style food as you want. There’s a large bath on the first floor, open from 3 pm to 9 am, with soap, shampoo and conditioner; women can also use the lotion and cream. You can pick a pillow, and a free pajama top is provided, though it has no trousers. Seeing people in pajamas in the lift might surprise you! Non-alcoholic drinks are free from 3 to 10 pm.

The single room felt a little tight with my 32-inch suitcase, and the hotel is a bit of a walk from the metro. Still, it’s quiet, the staff are helpful, and the service is excellent. The overall hotel package is excellent too.

We spent about three weeks here and would definitely come back. Even without speaking Japanese, we had no trouble checking in or communicating. The rooms were very comfortable, the food was amazing, and the staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help us.
