Mikiya Ryokan

We stayed here for our honeymoon and were treated beautifully. The staff gave top service, and our room was big and comfortable. You can tell the hotel has been around for years and has been renovated, and that history is exactly what makes it special. That's the whole point of booking here, to experience its age and story. If that isn't your thing, you'd probably be better off at a more touristic hotel 🫠. But if you like history, memories, and Japanese vintage architecture, this place is for you.

The crab feast was a highlight of our stay on 3/6, during snow crab season. Dinner was a generous spread of fresh local crab, local beef, sashimi, and more. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully prepared, and there was enough food to leave us completely full and happy. The peaceful atmosphere and warm hospitality made the whole visit feel like a relaxing retreat. The old ryokan is well maintained, and we could reserve a time for the private onsen and enjoy it undisturbed. The staff made us feel very cared for. I arrived early and felt motion sick from the train ride, but Tomoko Kataoka welcomed me with a drink, checked me in early, and had the bed ready so I could rest. Sapana brought us to the room and added so much warmth that it felt like an old friend was looking after us. The service from everyone was professional, kind, and attentive. The next morning, Zura was waiting for us with breakfast. We left rested, well fed, and grateful. The combination of the location, great service, private onsen, and seafood was wonderful. Mikiya has beautiful garden views, and we were lucky enough to have one from our room. The whole place was quiet and very comfortable, with lovely private baths that were well cared for. We had our own dining space for the traditional kaiseki dinner, and the dinner service was impeccable. The staff were kind and attentive from the start. They picked us up at the station, brought our luggage to the room, and helped us choose cute, comfortable yukata for visiting the public onsen around town. We felt treated like royalty. It was a 12/10 experience, and I'd highly recommend this ryokan.

My patents, my sister and I spent one night at Mikiya hotel. The weather in Kinosaki was freezing, but the room and board felt warm and welcoming, and we just wanted to stay inside. We enjoyed both the public and private baths at the hotel. We ordered the kaiseki-ryori dinner with half crab and half beef. It took two and a half hours to finish, and we were left with full bellies and nothing to complain about. Everything about the stay was top notch.
