I went for a day trip and had the full local crab course. The food was wonderful, from the fresh crab, shrimp, and squid sashimi to the boiled, shell-grilled, and charcoal-grilled crab, crab sukiyaki, and rice porridge. There was so much crab, and we enjoyed it all to our hearts' content. The grilled crab was cooked over premium charcoal and served with Takeno's signature salt, so I could adjust the saltiness to my taste. Its aroma was mouthwatering. The homemade ponzu with the sukiyaki had a punchy flavor that brought out the crab and vegetables. We ordered cold sake for the shell sake, and it overflowed from the masu glass, a lovely touch. The owner had gathered the seaweed himself from the shore, and it topped the porridge, adding a rich seaside taste to the crab broth. The dining area was clean and had a great view of Takeno Beach. The husband and wife welcomed me warmly and were thoughtful throughout. They even came out to see us off. We were delighted by their kindness and the delicious crab meal.
