Pension Teruterubozu

We came for a ski trip starting on New Year’s Day, and our children were delighted. The sukiyaki and chicken salt hotpot were both delicious, and they even changed up the breakfast menu. The couple’s kindness and thoughtfulness made us feel cared for the whole time.

I’ve been coming to this pension for more than 20 years. Back when I was a student, we used it every year for training camps. There were lots of rooms, including some with tatami, and it had that fun, full-on club camp feeling. They’d prepare meals and lunch for us to eat before afternoon practice. It really felt like youth. These days I stay here for work. The couple have kept this going for so long, and I’m impressed. The food is delicious, and there are natural sights nearby too. I like hotels, but a pension in the middle of nature feels like a secret base. Still the same wonderful place I love, and I want other people to get to enjoy it too.

We’re back for our third visit. The food is always good, and the guesthouse has a lovely, homey feel. The shower pressure in the room is just right. While parents eat or tidy up, the kids can browse books in the lobby. The owners are so kind, and we often end up chatting with them for ages. I’d happily recommend this place to friends.

The pension is tucked away among the trees, and its peaceful setting is a big part of the appeal. It’s worth staying here for that break from everyday life. During the second half of Golden Week, I took my wife, who I hadn’t taken anywhere, for a drive to Kannabe Plateau. We tried the pension’s most popular dish, the “Crunchy Lettuce Salt Hot Pot.” The boiled lettuce went really well with the pork and chicken, and the meal was delicious. I just wish there’d been dessert or something. Since we’d come all that way, I wanted one more memorable touch. Maybe the outdoor barbecue course would have been different. The toilet outside the room felt very Showa-era, and the flush was a bit weak. I also thought the price was somewhat high.
