Daiwa Roynet Hotel YOKOHAMA-KANNAI

Getting to Haneda is easy from here, and Chinatown is a lovely 15-minute walk away, with plenty of restaurants nearby. It’s also very convenient for Don Quito, the 7/11 downstairs, and the breakfast place in the building. Kannai station is about a three-minute walk, though keep the walk in mind if you have heavy bags. The room was clean and what you’d expect from a three-star hotel in Japan, which is fine. It was a little bigger than my favorite place at a similar price, with a small stool and tiny table, plenty of desk space, and a nice large TV. Service was amazing. The staff are always smiling, and when I borrowed an iron, they presented it with real respect for both me and the iron and board. The drop coffee is an amazing idea and pretty good too. I’d absolutely stay again, but a few things caught me off guard. The amenities had a shaving razor but no shaving cream. The internet was really bad while I was trying to work overnight, causing trouble with calls, and even basic Japan-based websites took a long time to load or sometimes wouldn’t load at all. I was also surprised I couldn’t make local calls from the room, even for a fee, and had to scramble to call my airline with questions. It’s just one star short of my favorite Tokyo brand.
