The dinner was delicious, though there was more than I could finish. The Yonezawa beef was especially tender, and the hot springs were great too. We had a spacious two-room setup at this inn, with a double-basin sink, which was nice. It was my first stay at Onogawa Onsen while visiting Tengendai Ski Resort. Amayu and Takinoyu are nearby, and the place to try radium hot spring eggs is across from the inn.

The inn was spotless, right down to the corners, and the sauna and other amenities felt refreshingly different from the usual places in older hot spring resorts. I especially appreciated how hard the young proprietress worked. I stayed over the holidays to treat my elderly mother, and I took the pamphlet home as a souvenir. One letdown was that the CEO, a short white-haired woman, didn’t greet me or make eye contact. Even so, it was definitely a five-star inn.
