The room was basic and inexpensive, but clean, and the AC worked well. It had a table, two bedside tables, a bin, and a wardrobe with a few hangers. There was no fridge or kettle, and the bathroom was the open shower kind. The exhaust fan was good. The bed felt very firm, and the blanket was more like a throw than a hotel-style one. There’s no elevator, so expect stairs. The Wi-Fi was very weak; on my second day reception moved me to a room nearer the front, which fixed it. Laundry, convenience stores, restaurants, and street food are nearby. Oressey Market is an easy 8-19 minute walk, and Olympic Stadium is six minutes away. Lots of locals go there to exercise, walk, play volleyball, tennis, basketball, martial arts, and other activities.

We booked and paid for a room, but when we arrived they said the hotel was full. A group came in and they gave our room to them so they could fit everyone. They sent us to another hotel on the next street, where groups were in rooms on both sides of us, laughing, shouting, and going between rooms until 4 a.m. We couldn’t get help from staff, and explaining the problem was difficult because they didn’t speak English. The room there was unbelievably dirty. There was a condom and a cigarette left by the previous guest. The one star is for the free breakfast and lunch they offered, which I declined. All I needed was a night’s sleep, and we didn’t get one. It was our worst stay so far.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the place itself felt pretty soulless. The sheets seemed dirty, and since there was a duvet without a top sheet, I couldn’t help thinking it hadn’t been washed between guests. Wi-Fi was patchy on the top floor where my room was.

The area is cheaper than the more touristy Riverside, and the bus companies for Vietnam are right next door. My room was spacious, and the aircon, TV, and shower all worked well. Staff were kind and would clean whenever I asked. A great place to stay.

Good value, clean and comfortable room, and close to most places. The staff are friendly too, so just ask if you need help. A lovely place to stay.
