Cambodia Backpacker Guesthouse

The location is handy, about five minutes from the markets and Pub Street, but the Hard Rock Cafe across the road plays music until close to midnight. We ended up using earplugs to sleep, which spoiled an otherwise pleasant stay. We were there for four nights and liked most of the hotel. There’s no lift, though the lovely staff carried our bags up to the second floor. The rooms are basic and could use some renovation and colour. Ours had a small balcony and decent AC, but the TV was grainy and only had two Khmer channels. The friendly staff arranged an Angkor Wat tuk tuk tour for $28 USD. There’s an underused restaurant serving breakfast for $7, a small pool on level 1, and massages on request for $20.

The staff were lovely throughout my stay, kind, attentive, and always ready to help. The location worked well too: I could walk to the main attractions, while the hotel was far enough from the busy central street to feel peaceful. My room was simple rather than luxurious, but had what I needed. The bed was wonderfully large and comfortable, the bathroom spotless, and the shower had great pressure and temperature. The amenities are modest but well looked after. The one small letdown was the fridge, which didn’t cool properly. A practical, comfortable stay with good service and a convenient, quiet location. Highly recommended if you value those things over frills.

Stayed five nights. My third-floor room was big, and breakfast was free and great. Pub Street is only 300 meters away, yet we didn’t hear a thing. Cheap laundry is about 30 meters to the left as you walk out the front door. I got a 65% discount on Booking.com, so I was VERY happy.

Lovely, clean place, and the rooms were clean too. It’s really well placed near the riverside, with Pub St. and Old Market an easy walk away. The staff were polite and helpful, especially Jame, who helped me a lot. 100% recommended :)
