We were traveling as a group, and it was convenient to have our rooms on the same floor. The neighborhood is fairly quiet and less hectic than Myeongdong or Hongdae. The hotel sits on a hill, with a 7-Eleven at the bottom, another convenience store inside, and several bus stops nearby. Breakfast starts at 7 a.m.; there were vegetarian options, but halal food wasn’t labeled. The menu stayed the same throughout our four days. The rooms are roomy, though sound carries from the hallway, including footsteps. I liked the heated toilet seat in the cold weather, and the switches by the bed made it easy to turn out the lights. The WiFi was decent. I initially missed the tea and coffee, which were kept on a shelf near the fridge. There’s a TV, but I didn’t check whether it had streaming. The hotel also offers currency exchange. On our last day, I noticed the towels had all been taken and replaced with face towels. When I asked, I was told they’d run out because of the number of guests. I said that wasn’t acceptable, and they eventually gave us one proper towel. The hotel doesn’t yet seem to have a sustainable towel-use practice.

Greenery all around gives this place a peaceful feel, a welcome break from the city rush. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable, refined interiors, and the atmosphere is calm.

The staff are friendly and readily help out, and the hotel is both central and convenient. The breakfast buffet has so many choices that it feels more like lunch or dinner. When I checked in, they welcomed me back, even though my first stay was from 2018 to till. Swiss Grand Hotel is about 15 minutes from central Seoul, making access quick and convenient. I love this hotel and recommend it 💯

Getting around is easy with a transit go card, which you can buy and top up with cash at any convenience store. Hongje Station is a short public bus ride away or a 10-minute walk, and the train takes you just a few stops to places like Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchong Hanok Village, Changdeokgung Palace, Myeongdong shopping Street, Hongdae Walking street, downtown Seoul, Apgujeong, and Gangnam. The hotel has an older style but feels modern. Staff are excellent, and the location is great. There’s a breakfast buffet dining room, a coffee shop, and a restaurant for lynch and dinner. A piano player performs in the Lower Ground open area by the cafe and restaurant. The pool is open in summer, and the gym is excellent, with lots of machines, a stretching area, and weights.

The room felt a little old, but the gym was excellent and had complete equipment. I didn’t get to try the pool because the place was full of kids.
