Rosewood Luang Prabang

I’d been at Rosewood less than five hours as a guest when I decided to write this. The experience has been terrible, which is hard to believe. I stay in hotels for a living and am also an influencer, so I want to warn people. I booked the most expensive hilltop tent suite, but loud music from a nearby restaurant has been playing nonstop since I arrived. I tried to arrange a massage for tonight and was told the music would be audible during it. Propeller planes and revving motorcycles are regular sounds too. People come here expecting jungle, but this is worse than a busy downtown party area. All I can hear is manmade noise and barking dogs. The picture of a secluded jungle is hugely untrue and badly misleading. I went back to my room and turned up my own music, then was told I had to stay there while they sprayed insecticide. The fumes got into my suite, and right now I’m holding a mask over my face, feeling like I’m being poisoned. Couldn’t they have done this during the room changeover? There’s a curtain hiding the toilet area, just a few feet from the bed. That design is unacceptable. The pool is like a turtle pool. I’m furious that this hotel presents itself as anything other than a disruptive annoyance that charges unsuspecting clients for irritation. This is a serious blight on Rosewood’s reputation. It’s disgraceful that the hotel is content to mislead customers and take their money for a lousy experience during precious vacation time.

The tree top tents looked breathtaking and were extremely comfortable. We also loved the pool and yard games, and wished we could have stayed three times longer than our three nights. The staff went above and beyond, sharing tour schedules, local food and drink, and things to do around town. They made us feel welcome and helped us get the most from our stay. The hotel, restaurant, and bar were all absolutely perfect. The dishes were delicious, mixing traditional Lao food with creative takes on foreign dishes. The staff gave great recommendations and made for lovely conversations and service.

The breakfast was a highlight, and ending the day with cocktails at The Elephant Bridge Bar was just right. The service was exceptional, with staff who were incredibly attentive. Bill Bensley’s thoughtful design makes the property feel like a beautiful jungle sanctuary, from the striking architecture to its peaceful riverside setting. Rosewood Luang Prabang is pure perfection.

The staff took such good care of me, from pickup through to the airport drop off. They were kind, welcoming, thoughtful, and attentive without hovering, and the evening turn down service was so considerate. The room was spotless, and the beautiful resort by a stream exceeded all my expectations. An unforgettable holiday. Thank you for the wonderful service and stay. I’ll be back :)
